
The Lemont Area Historical Society (LAHS) is a non-profit 501(c) organization. Its operation primarily depends on membership fees and the generous donations from its members, visitors, local businesses, organizations, and the time of its volunteers. It currently receives no Federal, State, nor any local governmentals or other taxing district funding. Thus, the LAHS deeply appreciates any financial contributions that the public can make to support and continuation of the LAHS mission to perserve and document the history of the Lemont Illinois area. Besides cash, the LAHS welcomes financial donations in the form of securities, real property and/or artifacts. Such gifts are fully deductible for Federal income tax purposes. If they choose, donors may may also designate that the funds be used for specifics uses such as the LAHS's annual budget, endowment, building restoration projects and/or other special activites. Do you want to leave a legacy? Please consider including the Lemont Area Historical Society (LAHS) in your estate planning. A bequest or gift made through your will and or trust, can help assure the future viability of the LAHS as well to dramatically shape its future. Charitable bequests are free of Federal estate taxes. Such bequests can be in one or more different forms. These can include: A specific bequest which transfers the title of specific property, including but not limited to stocks, bonds and real property; A general bequest which transfers a stated sum of money; A contingent bequest which requires a certain event to occur before any distribution; A residuary bequest which transfer the remainder of an estate or a percentage of the residue after all other bequests, debts and taxes have been paid.
