The Lemont Area Historical
Society is located in the Old Stone Church, a national landmark listed
on the National Register of Historic Places. It also contains a rich collection
of historical artifacts from Lemont and the surrounding area. The purpose
of the Lemont Area Historical Society is to preserve the heritage and folklore
of Lemont, and to operate the museum as a repository for memorabilia and
artifacts. Founded in 1970 to save the Old Stone
Church, the Historical Society is a not-for-profit organization which
exists throught the support of its members.

| August 2008 Limestone Tour in Chicago and those interested should call for date and time. Cost will be $20 per person. |
| September 2008 Keepataw Days and we may have a Keepataw Trail hike in the morning starting at the top of old Bluff Road. |
| September 2008 meeting will have a guest speaker to talk about Argonne's beginnings in 1945-46. |
| November 2008 meeting, the ever popular "show and tell" plus raffles as well as election of officers. |
