LADY OF VICTORY CEMETERY

LEMONT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS

Lady of Victory, looking South

Lady of Victory is a private cemetery located at 1260 Franciscan Drive, Lemont, for the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago (formerly known as the Franciscan Sisters of Blessed Kunegunda), who lived in the former Lady of Victory Convent which is located on the grounds of the current Franciscan complex on the south side of Main Street, Lemont. The Sisters originally acquired the land of the current Franciscan complex in 1935 to be used as a home for aged and infirmed sisters. The original buildings were on what is now the Mother Theresa Home (founded in 1964) which the Sisters founded and operated after they had relocated to the new Lady of Victory Mother House which was constructed in 1963. This Mother House was demolished in the Spring of 2004. The cemetery remains on the hillside at the upper southwestern corner of the Franciscan complex behind the ruins of the former Mother House .
