Genealogy Research

The Lemont Area Historical Society offers a significant collection of helpful resources for doing genealogical research on Lemont area families. As in the past, the majority of current day Lemont area residents live in Cook County {Lemont Township}, with the rest in Will {Homer and Dupage Townships} and Dupage {Downers Grove Township} Counties of Illinois.

While not complete for all years, this collection includes original and microfilmed copies of Lemont Illinois area newspapers, U.S. censuses, cemetery readings books, Markiewicz and Gerharz Funeral Home records (~1895-1990), Lemont and Mt. Assisi High Schools annuals, Lemont Central grade school attendance records of the 1920's, an extensive collection of maps, selected church "anniversary" or "julibee" books, pictures, family trees and papers of local families submitted by patrons of the library, and other reference books related to the development and history of Lemont.

Assistance in accessing these resources including searches of the Lemont Area Historical Society files is available for a nominal fee. Click here for link to research request forms.
