This shows the East part of downtown "Lemont" and the then separate village of Sag Bridge. Until Lemont boomed with the construction of the canals and quarrying, Sag/ Sag Bridge/Sag Bridge Station was once the larger town, complete with hotel and its own post office. A separate Post Office building was not built in Lemont until about 1937. Note that the quarries are denoted by the crossed pair of pick axes symbol. The large quarry just to the south of Sag Bridge is visible from current Route 83 just to the north of Main Street.
