Sgt Pete Kane, Lemont Police Department

 

Lemont is mentioned as having a Town Marshal as early as 1879. Pete King served as Chief for at least 24 years, initially between 1909-1912 and then from 1920 until 1941. As he did not drive, he would call a taxi for any calls beyond ready walking distance.
