LEMONT BOWLING LANES
LEMONT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS

Alton Park Bowling Alley, Lemont IL

Probably the oldest bowling alley in Lemont was in Alton Park. Note that it appeared to be lit by a gas lantern.

This is still used as a bowling alley, but was reduced in size to accomodate a pizza restaurant.

While Lemont mainly has been associated with non-professional sports, Lemont did host one championship fight in May 19, 1896.

Both Men Badly Punished.
Lemont, IL, May 19—In a twentyround contest concluded early this morning between Joe Bertrand of San Francisco, champion bantam weight of the Pacific coast, and Barney McCall, champion of. Canada. Bertrand won.
Knocking his opponent out in the eighteenth round. McCall was the aggressor until the seventeenth round,-when Bertrand swung both right and left in rapid-succession, knocking McCall out.
Bertrand was terribly punished.
