Singer Avenue, Looking South, Lemont, Cook County, Illinois

Many of the larger houses in Lemont in the early 1900's were located on Singer Avenue. Singer was named after one of the quarry owners, Horace Singer, who had a house on the same street at 608 Singer, and who was a brother of the inventor of the Singer sewing machine.
