SS. CYRIL & METHODIUS (POLISH CATHOLIC) SCHOOL
LEMONT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS

The so called "Polish Catholic" school is now known as SS. Cyril and Methodius School. In 1890, it was reported as having 110 boys and 125 girls led by four Polish Sisters of St. Felix of Detroit. The first school building was destroyed by a fire on March 29, 1898. The second school building (pictured) was constructed in 1899 and was demolished in the early 1960's. It was located in the current parking lot next to the parish rectory at 608 Sobieski Street and was directly across from the current school building (607 Sobieski Street).
