Recent Additions to the LAHS Collections Nov. 2006

Several recent additions have been made to our archives and collections at the Lemont Area Historical Society (LAHS) museum in Lemont. Some of these additions may be just right for gifts for history buffs and those who missed recent meetings or programs.

In October we received a kerosene lamp from Hayes Auto & Truck Repair in Lemont while they were cleaning out their garage. This is a valuable antique and will be a welcome accessory to our general store exhibit in the museum basement. It is a Deitz “Little Wizzard” kerosene lamp that was a popular source of portable light many years ago.

In November we began producing DVD program copies of some recent programs such as:
June 2006 Tornado Anniversary program with speakers on the 1976 and 1991 tornadoes that struck Lemont
December 2005 LUMC 145th Anniversary interviews with Ida Kaminski and piano music by Mort Bennett
December 2005 LUMC 145th Anniversary collection of still photos CD
November 2005 Program: “Ask the Experts” video interviews with Lee Anderson, Norma Johnson, Ida Kaminski, and R. Hennebry – VHS tape
Springs and Quarries Program still photos collection CD from November 2006 program
Barns and Farms still photos CD collection from the May 2006 program
